Does anyone know how to do a leak-down test on a GSR? And how do you find TDC? btw i changed the crank pulley to the CR-V, so might be a bit hard to find the TDC through the crank pulley. Is there another way to find TDC without opening up the valve cover?

If anyone have a walk through on how to do a leakdown it would be great.

BTW the compression test came out to 160psi on all 4 piston, is that normal?

Here's a decent description of how to make and use a leakdown tester.

When the head is off the car (I know your's isn't, but bear with me) you set #1 close to TDC by eye, then you use a dial gauge to find TDC more precisely. The position of the spark plug hole in your engine makes it possible to do essentially the same thing by inserting a metal rod through the #1 spark plug hole, resting the end on the piston crown, setting the crank near TDC by eye, and then using a dial gauge in much the same way.

Careful not to drop anything into the engine and don't damage the piston crown or the threads in the spark plug hole.

160 is low for a _stock_ GSR. You didn't mention whether or not your motor's had internal mods or if you're using cam gears. Did you remove all the plugs and run your test with the throttle held wide open?

The CRV pulley's TDC mark should be the same.

The notch for the key/shank sets it.

btw so what do i do after i insert the medal rod into the #1 piston, turn the crank until the rod is at the highest or lowest to find TDC?

i have JE piston and everything else is stock on the internals.

Thanks for helping me by the way,

TDC is when #1 (and #4 on an inline four) is at the very top of its stroke.

    What's the compression ratio?
